Controlling the Snooze Button

This week’s topic is all about the pressure that we put on ourselves to control things in our lives. Gosh, I could be so Zen about this and say that I strive for balance, blah, blah, blah… However, I have to admit I love my schedule and routine so much. Maybe too much.

During the week, I love to work out in the mornings. However, this means that I need to get up at 4:15 am so I can drive down to the gym near my office. If you do the math, I need to go to bed at 8:15 pm to get 8 hours of sleep. Sounds crazy, but I try to do it. Yes, I do hit the snooze button on occasion.

Some weeks my schedule stays on track and I feel good. Other weeks I am a little off. At times, skipping a day or two of exercise for more sleep can be a blessing. Other times, when I really need a workout, but I know that I won’t get enough sleep, I will still go ahead and make the choice to go to the gym.

Am I putting too much pressure on myself with my schedule or am I just trying to fit everything in? Sometimes life seems like such a balancing act. One snooze button at a time,,,
