Inspiration/Perspiration Friday
|Christmas Cheer is Here…
LaFitterina: Someone asked me today if I was ready for Christmas! What a joke — I’ve just scratched the surface of starting to get ready. Recounting some of the progress to date:
- Picked out Christmas cards — went through many dozens of boxes to find just the right ones.
- Browsed around a few quaint Holiday Bazaars showcasing hand-made gifts, decorations, cookies, fudge, etc.
- Bought great (I think) gifts for 2 people on my list, plus some stocking stuffers.
- My niece put up the outdoor lights — a tasteful, sparkly display, for which I’m so grateful.
Hmmm, I guess that’s about it so far. The few things accomplished so far have put me in a surprisingly jolly mood — otherwise I wouldn’t be talking about it here. Plus, I’ve got 4 crates of indoor decorations that I’ll tackle this weekend. Undoubtedly, unpacking and displaying all that stuff from holidays past, dating back to my childhood, will solidify my holiday spirit.
I hope that you, too, are excited about the approaching holidays and feel inspired to do some prep-work this weekend. Also, be ‘good’ as far as exercising and healthy eating — remember that Santa’s making his list.
Thanks, Bill
Mizzfit: I searched long and hard for an apt holiday quote – ok, it took less than 5 minutes! – and for once I found Shakespeare relevant. To woo is: to seek the favor, affection, or love of. And what does this season need more of? Love. Love for all the mad crazy peeps in your orbit, for your pets, your traditions. Who do you want to woo for the holidays? And who would you like to woo you? Cheers to a fun weekend.

You are farther along than me. If I’m lucky, I will find and unpack my very first Christmas tree, which, of course, is becoming an antique.
I wish I had my first tree — glorious FLOCKED aluminum, decorated with shiny bright blue ornaments and topped with an angel resembling Shirley Temple. The tree smelled rather strange and shed a lot. It traveled with me over approx. 15 year period, moving from LA to San Diego to Cleveland, and then to the Bay Area. Good memories!
