Showing Some Sweet Love
|Yes, I definitely I have a sweet tooth – thanks for asking! My most guilty pleasure would be ‘old fashioned’ donuts covered with icing. I manage to limit myself to one or a few annually.
I guess I should mention my current affinity for Nonni’s Biscotti. I’ve been eating at least one a day, and there are currently 6+ boxes in my pantry. Caramel Pecan, Chocolate Decadence, and Milk Chocolate are my favs.
Another sweet addiction is ice cream. I shop for the lowest calorie varieties (not really ice cream at all), and lately I’ve been consuming maybe a gallon per week — I figure that’s at least 3500 calories, and I think that means that pretty much all the exercise I’m doing is only serving to prevent me from gaining weight from this habit.
I have a Yonanas machine, for making ‘ice cream’ out of frozen bananas (and you can add other frozen fruit). Surprisingly, it turns out to be a really creamy, tasty substitute. Unfortunately, it rarely seems like it’s worth the bother, vs. buying and eating the real thing.
Bottom line: I need to exercise more willpower, and must stop buying biscotti and ice cream, and instead go for bananas and other healthy fruit.
I can attest to the fact that the Yonanan machine makes superb, healthy treats. Avoiding spikes of sugar in our bodies is so important. Thank you for sharing on your blog!

Thanks for the high praise – the Yonanas machine makes a great gift, with Christmas fast approaching. Looks like it’s on sale, too – I know mine cost more than that!
Of course, no discussion on sugar would be complete without mentioning the famous video lecture by Dr. Robert Lustig on YouTube: http://youtu.be/dBnniua6-oM
