What a Difference a Year Makes!

One year ago I was…

8 pounds heavier, hadn’t visited the gym in months, and spent my weekends as a couch potato. I didn’t even have the energy to walk the dog around the block. I would feel tired, even if I slept a full night’s sleep. I would feel pain and it seemed to increase each week. At times the nausea from my headaches would be overwhelming. That was 2014.

Over this last year I have…

…been able to get back to the gym, go to cycle class, and reconnect with my gym buddies. This has not only helped my body get back into shape, but I have obviously lost a few pounds. This revised gym habit has also done my spirit some good, as I am smiling and laughing more. This natural mood enhancer has helped reduce my pain too.

…been taking swim lessons. This has been a wonderful mind and body challenge. The reason why it is a mind challenge right now is because I have to talk myself into putting on a swimsuit when it is below 45 outside. The body challenge is interesting too, as a 40-something body doesn’t always cooperate with what I ask it to do. However, despite those obstacles I am learning something new and do find moments of calm, joy, and flow in the water.

…been even more inspired. The Move Girl Go contributors and community have been amazing. The support that I receive from my gym buddies, instructors, and former gym buddies (DQ’s) has also been fabulous. Hearing or reading everyone’s inspiring stories, tips, tricks, and suggestions has done my body, mind and spirit some good!

2015 has been a remarkable year of transition for my body, mind, and spirit. I can’t wait to see what 2016 brings!
