Just A Few Steps to Beauty

I’m not sure if you really want know about my personal umpteen-steps to beauty, but I guess I can give you a brief glimpse into my private ablutions, etc.

1st off, Pre-Workout: I don’t leave the house without going through a routine of toner, moisturizer, SPF, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, lip liner, lipstick, lip gloss, concealer, powder, blush, and hair combing/brushing/styling. I’ve timed myself — takes under 1/2 hour — totally worth it in terms of not scaring people.

Next, Post-Workout: I always wrap-up my gym-time with a shower — the facilities in the Women’s Locker Room are quasi-luxurious & fairly clean. I use my own non-irritating soap, and Pureology Hydrate Shampoo & Conditioner. I spend time carefully shaving my legs and underarms because I absolutely abhor even the least little tiny bit of that sticker-bush feeling of stubble — ugh! This is followed by application of body oil topped with body lotion.

Finally, Pre-Bedtime: Keeping in mind those admonitions about the dire consequences of going to sleep with makeup on, I wash with a combination of Origins Foaming Antioxident Facial Cleanser and Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash. Then I apply Skinceuticals serums, followed with moisturizer. And I use Vaseline/Aquaphor on my lips, and Cetaphil Intensive Moisturizing Cream massaged into hands (especially cuticles) and arms.

Of course, let’s not forget that the #1 most important element of any beauty routine is to get adequate sleep! To me, adequate sleep means at least 8 hours, preferably closer to 9 hours. I use a sleep mask and earplugs every night to enhance the quality of my sleep.

Phew, it’s a wonder that I have time to do anything else during the day besides attending to my beautification.
